Atox Bio products also have clinical application in the treatment of chronic inflammatory disease. In pre-clinical experiments, Atox Bio’s molecules effectively and reproducibly suppressed (1) symptoms of Th1-cytokine mediated delayed-type hypersensitivity (DTH) response in mice; (2) adjuvant arthritis in rats, even for weeks after treatment was stopped, with no rebound of disease; (3) symptoms of multiple sclerosis in mice; and (4) symptoms of collagen-induced rheumatoid arthritis in mice. The mechanism of action involves the reduction of several key pro-inflammatory cytokines, including TNF-a, IL-1 and INF-g.
